The Project

Sense & Assist

Project Description

To meet this challenge, DENGUN will develop a telemedicine and tele-assistance solution for mobile devices to sustainably respond to an anticipated market need.

The proposed approach involves the integration of wearables already available on the market, but essentially the development of new features in the field of Augmented Reality (AR). We intend to integrate virtual elements in the physical environment, in real time, with the support of an electronic device, such as glasses, tablets and smartphones, which use the real environment interface to visualise and manipulate real and virtual objects.

The device will be integrated with other sensors and equipment (Internet of Things) to collect relevant information about the health status and any symptoms of the user (elderly person). This information may be communicated to a support centre (public or private support service, nursing home, clinic or hospital) which will be monitored by dedicated professional teams.

As we will be accessing and processing potentially sensitive information, we will use blockchain as a technology that guarantees data security and privacy. Blockchain protects transactions between partners without the need to include intermediaries (data processors), allowing you to include signatures to protect content and data integrity to ensure privacy, confidentiality, security and integrity of information.

From our point of view, we’ve found that the project fits into the lines of action and priority activities within the Algarve RIS3 Health, Wellness and Life Science domains.

The final product of this project is aimed at the more senior foreign population who reside in scattered locations within the region. They will be able to install this digital solution on a portable device (smartphone or tablet), which will then allow them to be reachable and to access health or social assistance services - public or private.
